As someone who has match.com and other online dating experience, I thought I would post a review of the site. I will be sharing with you some of the specific things I really like about the site.
Match.com is now working exclusively with Dr. Phil McGraw. No other online dating web sites are doing this.
Match.com also allows you to do several things for free. For example, you can go to the site and build a search for free. When you go to match.com more on the right-hand side of the page, in a blue box there is "search." In there is a quick search, and quick it is. Input your sex, the sex you are seeking, the age range you are seeking, the geographic proximity (within how many miles of you), and if you want profiles with photos or people who are online right at the moment, and whoila! Profiles appear magically.
I really like that because this enables you to browse other's profiles before you subscribe and pay. Why pay for a service if there's no one out there you would consider talking too, or in match's instance, winking at or e-mailing?
You do have to officially subscribe to match.com (= PAY) to get functionality like sending and receiving e-mail with others and responding to e-mail. However, you can create a profile and post a photo also for free.
I also really like about match that you get to write your own profile and specify exactly what you're looking for. For example, if staying away from a certain religion is really important to you you can specify so you'll only get matches for your pre-defined criteria.
You can learn a lot just from reading people's profiles, and get an idea for how they talk. It's also interesting to see who can spell and who can't, and who cared enough to take the time to proofread their page before posting and who just threw something together!
As I previously alluded too, match.com has a fun tool where if you see a profile you like you can "wink" at the person. This lets them know you're interested or you like what you see in their profile and would like to learn more. But you don't have to take the time to e-mail them; it gives you another option to just wink instead. Of course you can e-mail them too, or just e-mail them and by-pass the wink.
Match.com has also instituted a nice "no thanks" if someone winks or e-mails you and you're not interested, you just click that and it still lets them know but in a polite way. If they don't get the hint, ha, or if you want, you can block other members and they won't be able to contact you.
Match.com will also send you e-mails to your inbox with new matches and you can peruse these when you sign in and check your e-mail.
Match.com has a lot of pluses, but how much does it cost to subscribe? Just now when I checked I was seeing a 30-day or one month commitment at about $1/day (This is without Dr. Phil. If you sign up to receive his tips, then it costs more of course!!), or $29.99. However, if you extend your membership and enroll longer, the price/month drops. I saw 6 months with the price cut in half each month, each month being only $14.99.
Good Luck if you decide to dabble on match.com; be watching for other dating web site reviews in the next couple months!
